FEEDING THE CHILDREN OF THE WORLD
Feeding children in impoverished countries.
One in seven people go to bed hungry each night: 854 million
people worldwide, most of them women and children.
Every six seconds, a child dies of hunger. Malnutrition
claims 25,000 lives every day – more than AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis
combined.
WFP is the world's largest humanitarian organization,
providing life-saving food to some 90 million people in 80 countries.
It costs just 25 US cents a day for WFP to feed a child at
school.
