What on this planet is more important than children?

One hundred years from now,
It will not matter,
What kind of car I drove,

What kind of house I lived in,
How much I had in my bank,
Nor what my clothes looked like.
One hundred years from now,
It will not matter,
What kind of school I attended,
What kind of typewriter I used,
How large or small my church.
But the world may be. . .
A little better because. . .
I was important in the life of a child.

Children are the ones who are very vital for deciding how the world is gonna be after some years. So if one can do some good in the life of a child then there can be change, at least a slightest change, in the world to come. And if most of them think on same lines then we can hope of a better future ahead. The main component which decides how the person is going to be in the future or the present is the amount of education he/she has within them.
Education has to be aimed at the overall development of child. Rural areas have been major victim of lack of educational facilities, thats where most of the children are deprived of even the basic education. And coming to the urban life its totally insane. Children are a means of cheap labor who rarely speak against their masters. There were many drives which were aimed at preventing Child Labor, but if the child itself is willing to work or the parents are not ready to take their child back, then nothing can be effective or nothing will work.
The only way to do it is to  change the education system for such children. Let them have a separate educational system where they are given Vocational Training in parallel with the Basic Education. The training will help them earn their livelihood in the future and also education. And there must be a certain age limit after which the person/Child will be allowed to carry on his/her independent work in the area in which he/she has been trained, until then he/she will have to be under the scrutiny of the Institute providing training.

Education is the missing link everywhere. Lack of basic education has been an hindrance to many and at most occasions uneducated people get cheated easily. There should be some cash based incentive for the children education. So planning of buying car even though already have one, of having number of houses- one in each area or of buying thing which you already have/are not in need of? Then do think before doing it. Read the lines above- It might have an impact.

Make Heinous Crimes Against Children a Capital Offence

  • Danish man charged with ordering the sexual abuse of 346 children
  • U.S. Failed To Protect Child Migrants From Abuse And Trafficking
  • Irving Man Charged In Child Abuse Case That Left 1-Year-Old Dead
  • Europe now hosts majority of child sex abuse images (60 per cent), pushing North America into second place (37 per cent),
  • The FBI in Oklahoma City has confirmed it is investigating a Republican state senator who is facing felony child prostitution charges
  • For more than 25 years, Jehovah’s Witnesses officials have instructed local leaders – known as elders – in all of the religion’s 14,000 U.S. congregations to hide sexual abuse from law enforcement
  • Pedophile pop star Gary Glitter gets 16 years' jail for child sex offences
  • Three parents had been charged in a Bexar County case involving eight children, including two who were found chained and leashed in the backyard in April, at a home in the Camelot II subdivision.
  • San Antonio police arrested Arjunkumar Rana, 19, on Thursday and charged him with capital murder after the medical examiner ruled that his 2-month-old son, Alexander Rana, died of asphyxiation by neck compression on March 24.

The above is just a very, very tiny little taste of abuse and criminal neglect against children the most vulnerable of our society. found after just a brief browse on the internet, Though I am not a pro-capital punishment advocate, in the case of premeditated crimes against children, particularly against babies and very young children I lean in that direction.

CELEBRATING THE POWER OF EDUCATION

Three years ago, Malala Yousafzai was targeted for her outspoken support of girls’ education. But not even a gun could silence her. In fact, it made her voice ring louder. Since her brush with death, Malala has made it her life’s purpose to advocate for the equal rights of all children and was recently the subject of the documentary He Named Me Malala, by Academy Award-winning filmmaker Davis Guggenheim.

Free The Children is proud to have welcomed Malala in Kenya on a ME to WE Trip where she spent several days speaking to girls about their passion for education at Kisaruni All Girls Secondary School. For many young girls, accessing education is about having the opportunity to reach their full potential as leaders and making a meaningful difference in the world.

Marcella Sang, a Kisaruni graduate and aspiring journalist, shares Malala’s belief in the power of education: “This school has changed my life completely. I have gained leadership skills and I have excelled in academics. When I started Kisaruni, I was shy and not able to address people in public. That’s changed—I have a voice now.”

Join us in celebrating the power of education and help support Free The Children’s education program overseas.
